Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
Christ is Risen! Although we hunker down in our homes to keep others and ourselves safe, we still hear the call of discipleship. How can we help in this time of difficulty and need?
One way is to support our churches so that they can carry on or even expand their mission and ministry at home and around the world.
You will soon be receiving a stimulus check or direct deposit from the United States government. We are writing to ask you to prayerfully consider giving some or all of your check to support your United Methodist church or other United Methodist churches in the Wisconsin Annual Conference.
If you choose to support other churches in Wisconsin, we will match your donation.
Of course, you may need this stimulus check to support your family and you should use it if you need it. However, at present, many of us are still working and retirees continue to receive Social Security and pension checks. We are in a position to share this bounty with others. When you share with the churches, you will still be stimulating the economy and you will be doing good in the world.
What should you do?
- If you are called to give to your local church, then send your church your entire stimulus or part of it in the usual way: mail a check, use bill pay, or give electronically.
- If you are called to support other churches in the Wisconsin Conference send a check to the Wisconsin United Methodist Foundation (750 Windsor St, Suite 305, Sun Prairie, WI 53590). Remember, we will match your entire gift.
Yours in Christ,
